Red Valley, Soganli Valley, Mustafapasa (Sinasos), Keslik Monastery
Explore Soganli Valley, Keslik Monastery, and Mustafapasa before hiking through Red Valley’s hidden chapels and surreal landscapes, far from the tourist crowds. A la Carte lunch included!
This immersive full-day tour begins with a visit to the serene and lesser-known Soganli Valley, a peaceful open-air museum nestled within a dramatic natural setting.
Located near a quiet Cappadocian village, the valley features rock-cut churches carved into the cliffs, each displaying unique frescoes that reflect the distinctive styles of early Christian hermits. Unlike the more frequented sites in the region, Soganli offers a quiet, meditative atmosphere where history and nature blend seamlessly.
From here, the journey continues through the untouched rural landscapes of Cappadocia toward the village of Mustafapasa. Along the way, you’ll pass by traditional stone houses and wide valleys surrounded by the region’s iconic flat-topped mountains. Before arriving in Mustafapasa, the tour stops at the Keslik Monastery near Cemil Village.
This secluded monastic complex, carved from soft volcanic rock, features several chapels and refectories. Its ancient frescoes are shrouded in a delicate smoke layer, only visible with the aid of a torch, making the experience both intimate and mysterious. Lunch is enjoyed in Mustafapasa, a village known for its preserved Greek architecture and peaceful charm.
Here, you’ll dine in a restored Greek house, hosted by a local family offering warm hospitality and homemade regional dishes, providing insight into the area’s multicultural past.
In the afternoon, the tour ventures to the heart of Cappadocia for a guided 5-kilometer hike through the stunning Red Valley. This lesser-traveled area offers a kaleidoscope of colors and formations shaped by centuries of erosion. The path winds through deep ravines, carved rocks, and hidden chapels created by early Christian hermits.
With its blend of solitude, scenic grandeur, and spiritual history, the Red Valley presents one of the most rewarding experiences in the region, far from the busy tourist trails.
