Your journey begins in the remarkable Devrent Valley, also known as Imagination Valley, where the natural rock formations resemble animal shapes and mythical figures. With no man-made structures, this area offers a raw and whimsical look at Cappadocia’s geological creativity. It’s a place where nature’s artistry fuels the imagination and provides excellent photo opportunities.

From here, the tour continues to the Zelve Open Air Museum, one of the oldest cave communities in the region. Once a thriving monastic center, Zelve was inhabited for centuries and only fully abandoned in the 1950s. Walking through its cave dwellings, tunnels, and chapels offers a vivid sense of daily life in a self-sustained religious settlement.

The natural formations here blend seamlessly with human history, making it one of the most atmospheric sites in Cappadocia. Next, you will visit Pasabag Valley, also called Monks Valley, famous for its iconic fairy chimneys—tall, mushroom-shaped rock formations with multiple conical caps.

These formations once sheltered hermit monks, and a few of their dwellings and chapels carved into the chimneys can still be explored today. The serene environment and unusual landscape make this a highlight for many visitors.

The tour then moves to the charming town of Avanos, situated on the banks of the Kızılırmak (Red River), which has been a hub of pottery and ceramics since the Hittite era around 2000 BC.

You’ll visit a traditional workshop where skilled artisans demonstrate ancient techniques using the red clay from the river. This is an opportunity not just to observe but also to gain insight into a craft that has been passed down through generations.

Following a leisurely lunch at a local restaurant serving authentic regional cuisine, the tour continues to the UNESCO-listed Goreme Open Air Museum. This extraordinary site contains a cluster of rock-cut churches, chapels, and monasteries dating from the 10th to 12th centuries.

Inside, the walls are adorned with remarkably well-preserved frescoes depicting scenes from the life of Christ and early Christian saints. The Dark Church (Karanlık Kilise), in particular, is noted for the vividness of its frescoes. To conclude the day, the tour visits Uchisar Rock Castle, the tallest point in Cappadocia.

This natural rock fortress, once used for defense and as a watchtower, offers sweeping panoramic views across the region’s valleys and fairy chimney formations. It’s the perfect place to reflect on the day’s discoveries and take in the unforgettable beauty of the Cappadocian landscape.

What a day. Cappadocia has always been on my list and it was better than expected. From the start of the tour the landscapes blew my mind. Loved the animal shaped rocks in the imagination valley and Zelve felt like an ancient ghost town. We even had a go at pottery making in Avanos which was funnier than I thought. The open air museum was great too, really makes you wonder how people lived inside those caves. We ended at Uchisar castle and I could have stayed there for hours looking at the view. Highly recommend.

Cappadocia really surprised me, I knew it would be beautiful but I didn’t expect the landscapes to be so different at every stop. The first valley had such strange rocks, then we explored a cave village that felt like a scene from a movie. Avanos was a lovely break, and the pottery was fun to watch. The churches inside the caves had so much history, and the view from the castle at the end of the day was breathtaking. A big thanks to our guide who made the day fun and informative without making it feel like a school trip

Unreal landscapes, every corner we turned there was something crazy to see. The guide was full of stories and made everything easy to follow. Avanos was a fun stop, never thought I'd try pottery but here we are. The cave village in Zelve and the fairy chimneys in monks valley were highlights. We finished the day on top of the castle watching the sunset over the valleys, it was beautiful. This trip was a highlight of our Turkey trip for sure.

Cappadocia was on my bucket list for years and this tour showed the best parts in one day. Loved the weird rock shapes in the first valley and wandering through the abandoned caves in Zelve was unreal. The open air churches really surprised me, so much history carved in stone. Finished up with the sunset at the castle, an amazing way to end the day. Would definitely recommend this trip.

I have travelled a lot but Cappadocia was something else. Every place we visited had its own charm. The imagination valley was like a place from a story, and walking around Zelve was so peaceful. We stopped in Avanos to learn about pottery, I didn’t expect to enjoy it so much, but the people were so welcoming. The open air museum was full of history, our guide explained the churches and how people lived there, it was fascinating. We finished the day at Uchisar castle, the views over the valleys were unreal. A really great experience all around

This tour was epic. Started in the valley where the rocks looked like camels and dolphins, then wandered through an old cave village that felt frozen in time. The pottery workshop in Avanos was a laugh, I didn’t make the best bowl but it was fun. Seeing the old cave churches was pretty cool too, I learnt a lot more than I thought I would. And that view from the castle at the end, wow. So glad we booked this tour.

This was a wonderful day from start to finish. Ihlara valley was beautiful and peaceful (oops sorry bro, wrong tour! :D), I mean imagination valley was beautiful and peaceful, the kind of place you could just sit and think for hours. Walking through the caves in Zelve was like walking through history. Avanos was charming, I loved learning how the pottery is still made by hand. The cave churches were fascinating and the view from the castle was just wow. Our guide was very friendly and knowledgeable too.

Hands down one of the best tours I’ve done anywhere. I’d seen photos of Cappadocia but nothing compares to seeing it in person. The imagination valley had such cool rock formations and walking around the cave homes was like stepping back in time. The pottery stop in Avanos was a great little break and our guide shared stories that made the whole area come alive. The old cave churches were so interesting to explore and we ended with incredible views from the castle. Perfect day out.
