Tour Highlights
Goreme Open Air Museum, Pasabag (Monks) Valley, Devrent (Imagination) Valley, Goreme Panorama, Avanos – Kizilirmak River, Pottery Workshop in Avanos
Discover Cappadocia’s fairy chimneys, historic pottery in Avanos, Byzantine cave churches at Göreme, and traditional carpet weaving, with stunning valley views.
Your first real encounter with Cappadocia’s extraordinary, almost Martian-like landscape begins at Devrent Valley. This surreal valley, famous for its otherworldly rock formations, sparks the imagination with shapes resembling animals and fantastical figures created solely by nature.
Continue to Pasabag, also known as Monks Valley, where you will find Cappadocia’s renowned “fairy chimneys.” Here, the sound of the wind seems to harmonize with the ancient spirit of the land, creating a magical atmosphere among the towering stone pillars.
Next, visit the town of Avanos, a centuries-old center of pottery-making situated along the banks of the Kızılırmak River. The town is known for its charming cobbled streets, scenic riverside views, and rich terracotta art tradition that dates back to the Hittites. You will visit a ceramic and tile workshop to witness skilled artisans crafting pottery by hand, using the distinctive red clay sourced from the riverbed.
After a lunch break at a local restaurant, continue to the famous Goreme Open Air Museum, one of Cappadocia’s most remarkable UNESCO World Heritage Sites. This open-air complex houses rock-carved churches, chapels, and monasteries, featuring stunning frescoes from the post-iconoclastic Byzantine period.
These masterpieces of early Christian art, preserved within the volcanic stone, offer a powerful glimpse into the region’s religious history. Later, visit a carpet cooperative to observe the intricate and time-honored techniques of Turkish carpet weaving. Watch as local women craft exquisite carpets by hand, continuing a tradition that has been passed down through generations.
The tour concludes with a panoramic viewpoint, offering breathtaking views over the valleys and unique landscapes of Cappadocia, a perfect way to end a day of exploration and wonder.
