Begin your journey with an early morning pick-up from your hotel. Drive through the scenic countryside toward Aphrodisias, one of the most important archaeological sites of the ancient world, named after Aphrodite, the goddess of love and beauty. Aphrodisias was founded near a rich marble quarry that was heavily exploited during the Hellenistic and Roman periods.
The city became renowned across the Roman Empire for its exquisite marble sculptures and was a major center of art and culture. During your guided visit, explore the remarkably preserved ruins, including the Temple of Aphrodite, the Sebasteion adorned with intricate reliefs, the Bouleuterion (Council House), the ancient baths, and the impressive Stadium, one of the best-preserved structures of its kind in the ancient world.
Walking among these magnificent ruins provides a glimpse into the grandeur and artistic achievements of a bygone era. After visiting Aphrodisias, enjoy a lunch break at a local restaurant, sampling traditional Turkish cuisine in a relaxed atmosphere. Following lunch, continue to Pamukkale, meaning “Cotton Castle” in Turkish.
This extraordinary natural wonder is famed for its gleaming white travertine terraces formed by mineral-rich thermal waters flowing down the mountainside. The dazzling formations resemble a cascading frozen waterfall, creating one of the most iconic landscapes in Turkey. Pamukkale is also home to the ancient city of Hierapolis, a famous spa center during Roman times.
Explore the well-preserved ruins, including the ancient theater, the Necropolis with its extensive collection of tombs and sarcophagi, the Roman baths, and the Temple of Apollo. Stroll along the ancient streets and imagine life in this prosperous city that drew visitors from across the Roman Empire seeking healing from its thermal waters.
You will also have free time to walk barefoot on the travertines or take a relaxing dip in the mineral-rich waters, a tradition dating back thousands of years. After a full day of exploration, you will return to your hotel, carrying memories of Turkey’s unique blend of natural beauty and ancient civilization.
